Fashion Review: De Puta Madre 69

The clothing brand De Puta Madre was very controversial because of its name. But what most people don't know is that de puta madre is slang for fucking good as in Este fiesta es de puta madre (this party was fucking good).

The brand De Puta Madre was launched from a Barcelona jail cell where two Colombian drug pushers where incarcerated for a period of twenty years. Regretting their criminal past and where it landed them, they created slogans and other ideas for a new clothing company and smuggled them out of their prison. Once out of jail, IFU, one of the traficant, officially launched the brand with wide support in Latin America and Italy.

Using strong themes such as Drugs, Weapons, and Sex and slogans such as Fuck Barbie or Will Fuck for Coke, the brand has become very popular around the clubbing scene and among the golden youth. Behind the really provocative expression lies a very different message:

Do not imitate our words
Do not commit illegal actions
Do not use drugs to feel different
But wear our shirts to be always the best in every way
Without using artificial things that will kill you

Personally I love the brand. The slogans are awesome, anytime you'll wear one of their shirts you'll be sure to have all eyez on you. People will say good and bad stuff about you but hey good or bad advertising is still advertising. Perfect to walk in a club or a party where you don't know anyone. The only regret I have concerning De Puta Madre is that they should diversify and offer more graphics instead of just texts.

Here the trend changes every month and it's always a race to be on top.

Milan:
Milan, Italy. Birthplace of so many great haute-couture brands. There is nothing to say except that you will always look great in any of the following. Pick and choose: Dolce Gabbana, Gucci, Gianfranco Ferré, Guru, Emporio Armani, Diesel, Prada, Fendi, Valentino, Versace, Moschino...

New York:
New York the metropolitan has always been a crossroads for many style. Whether it's classic (Gap, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger) Street & Urban (Roc-A-Wear, Marck Ecko, Fubu, Sean John) or trendy (Playboy, Hugo Boss, Oscar de la Renta, Donna Karan) the fashion from the Big Apple represents the metro-sexual lifestyle with grace.

Tokyo:
Tokyo's fashion represents the most provocative and the most avant-gardiste styles of the industry. Japanese teenagers are not afraid to wear and to mix every kind of different style bringing new trends such as gothic lolita, superpositions or the loose socks with the school uniform. The predominance of cartoony, influences is also very visible, changing every fashionista into a manga character. Few brands have actually been exploding worldwide except Evisu Denim.

Barcelona:
A mix of the classic Italian lines and the colorful Latin American styles, Barcelona proudly represents Zara, Massimo Dutti, Custo Barcelona, or the very controversial De Puta Madre.

London:
Among the very classic and very classy Burberry or Paul Smith, new brands like FCUK, Le Temps des Cerises/Japan Rags, and Pepe Jeans have been invading the upscale youth market. A favorite for the clubbers, the trashy style of London has been a trendsetter for many designers.

Hong Kong:
I don't know much about the fashion scene in Hong Kong or any of their designers but a couple of my girlfriends went their for their vacation and told me that it was just crazy. The clothes that they brought back are just beautiful. If any of you has more information, please submit it to me!

Rio de Janeiro:
Representing the Latino world, fashion from Rio de Janeiro offers a clothing style always sexy and colorful. Rio de Janeiro, with it's army of plastic surgeons, has become the temple for the God Appearances and its fashion industry is growing increasingly especially with their ever popular Brazilian bath-suits and flip flops.

Malaysian Fashion Show

Here are a couple pictures from a fashion show in Malaysia.

The show took place in the Prangin Mall of Kuala Lumpur and had communication for theme.

It gives a taste of the haute-couture of the region. It's market is exploding in South-East Asia.

Personally, I am loving it. It's a style clearly less cluttered than what Europeans designers have done lately while still representing its Asian roots. Add to that, the models are drop dead gorgeous...

Japan Rags/Le Temps des Cerises Denim

If you don't follow the fashion scene, there is great chances that you have never heard of either Japan Rags or Le Temps des Cerises. Don't worry, it's normal, it just mean that you are sane and that the virus of fashion addiction has not infected you yet.

First of all Japan Rags (for men) and Le Temps des Cerises (for the ladies) is the same brand. The company was established in the UK a couple years ago and is now exploding in the upscale denim market among Diesel, Replay or Evisu. Their style is clearly one of the best right now. Ultra-faded colors, paint or oil drips, zip pocket, scratches, worned out, or fully customized jeans is what made LTC & Japan Rags so famous.

What I like best in this brand is not its unique look (which I absolutely adore) but the confort. The coton used in the jeans was brought from Japan and washed in a special machine for more than 6 hours then manually brushed, scrubed then polished until its vintage style shines on.

I myself own a jean and a shirt from Japan Rags and I recommend this brand to anyone who is a fashion addict and who would rather spend hard earned money on clothes than on groceries (yes this shit IS expensive)... For the others, dream on!
